Back in 2020, I created a post to share some of my favorite sunrise and sunset photos. While all the photos in that post are still among the best sunrises and sunsets I’ve captured on camera, three years have passed since then and I’ve accumulated numerous additional wonderful sunrise and sunset photos. And so, given that 2023 has come to an end and the dawn of 2024 is upon us, I decided now would be a good time to share some of my favorite sunrise and sunset photos from the last three years.
Which one is your favorite?
Up next: a short but steep hike to Devil’s Head Lookout
Hiking, road-tripping, and handstanding my way around the US (currently) and the world (hopefully in the not-so-distant post-COVID future… if such a thing exists)

These are all gorgeous, especially the reflections. My favorite is actually the sunrise, where the rays of light are reaching out.
In the summer we tend to get afternoon thunderstorms that are sometimes still dissipating in the evening so those remaining clouds catch the light. The rest of the year, I’m not sure what the explanation is, but now I’m curious.
These are so beautiful, Diana, especially the snowy sunrise. We often think of winter as being dull and grey, and there are certainly times when that is the case, but ice and snow can do amazing things with the coloured light at sunrise and sunset. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day. Aiva xx
They are all beautiful photos but, for me at least, there is a clear favourite and that is the one entitled, Maroon Bells sunrise | September 2021. You should have it enlarged, framed and place in a prominate place in your home.
I find it impossible to pick a favorite, Diana. All are breathtakingly beautiful and remind us of the splendor we can experience if we only open our eyes. Thank you for sharing.

They’re all spectacular, but I’m giving the Nov. 2023 Denver sunrise the edge because: Broncos colors!

Mountains + sunrises/sunsets will always be my favorite. I think their fleeting nature makes them all the more precious.

Is there anything special about the Denver sky that creates such spectacular sunrises/sunsets?

All are stunning photos, but my personal favorite right now is the one of the Marroon Bells, because I went there for the first time last summer.

All great examples Diana. I like the misty snowy morning sunrise. Understated but mezmerising. Happy Thursday. Allan

Thanks Allan! I agree, it’s so different from all the others but one of my favorites as well.
